Admissions Process

The amount of effort that SMC puts in making education in the application accessible is insane.

The application for Southwestern Michigan College is super easy. There's no essays to fill out or anything like that. It is a completely free application as well, too. So all you have to do is just fill out all your personal information.

Within about one week, you'll receive an email decision. And then within about two weeks, you'll actually receive a letter in the mail with a more formal decision letter as well.

When I did my application, I had a lot of questions. I could text my admissions counselor, like no question is too small for them like that is what they are there for and as a resource.

One of the most important things for students to do definitely would be to get on campus, take a tour... Because you're not going to really be able to see yourself there until you actually step foot on campus and you know, see other students.

New Student Orientation is an awesome event on campus where all of our brand new incoming students come to campus. You get to sign up for all of your classes, you get to meet a lot of your new classmates.

You also get to talk to Financial Aid people and a lot of other staff members and really just get all of those questions answered that you have on the back of your mind regarding the college admissions process.
